WELCOME TO THE JAMTSELING FOUNDATION OF NYIDEY MONASTERY, LOCATED IN BJEMINA, THIMPHU.

SEVENTH LINEAGE:

The esteemed Lhodrak Nyidey Tulku Jewoen Rinpoche was born in 1983 in Tokaphu, Tongzhang, hailing from the revered family lineage of the current Kabje Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche.

Rinpoche commenced his early education at an English-medium institution, specifically Tokaphu Primary School. He successfully completed Grade 6 at Tongzhang Primary School in 1997, Grade 8 at Tshenkharla Middle Secondary School in 1999, Grade 10 at Yangtse Middle Secondary School in 2001, and ultimately Grade 12 from Haa Ugyen Dorji Higher Secondary School in 2003. He furthered his studies in the English medium, acquiring a degree certificate from a college in Darjeeling, India, in 2007. Following his graduation, His Eminence provided his services to Kabje Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche and his Dratshang administration in Bumthang for one year before his formal recognition.

In the year 2008, Rinpoche received official recognition as the reincarnation of the former Jewoen Rinpoche, a distinction conferred by His Eminence Tai Situ Rinpoche and Very Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche. Jewoen Rinpoche serves as the Throne Holder of Lhodrak Nyidey Gonpa, a distinguished Karma Kagyu monastery in Tibet. The original temple, referred to as the small Gonpa, was established by the 5th Karmapa, Deshin Shekpa, during his pilgrimage, and subsequently underwent renovations by the 4th Shamar Rinpoche before being entrusted to Detsa Rinpoche, the maternal uncle of Jewoen Rinpoche.

Following the demise of Detsa Rinpoche, the monastery came under the stewardship of the first Jewoen Choktrul Rinpoche. Under his leadership, along with subsequent incarnations, Lhodrak Gonpa evolved into the principal Densa (permanent monastic seat) and underwent substantial expansion over the years. It developed into one of the largest Karma Kagyu monasteries, maintaining the unbroken lineage until the invasion of Tibet by China in 1959, during the administration of Mao Zedong. Regrettably, the monastery was entirely obliterated during China's Cultural Revolution in the late 1950s and 1960s.

In contrast to many individuals, Rinpoche's previous incarnation did not abandon Tibet and subsequently pass away there. He was later reborn in Bhutan. His Eminence currently resides at his second Densa, established by the Umzey (chant master) of his prior existence, in Bjemina, Bhutan. The present monastery is publicly recognized as Lhodrak Nyidey Rabtenling Gonpa, located in Bjemine within Thimphu Dzongkhag, Bhutan.
